Hurricane Ian grazed my home of Tampa Bay but left those only two hours south with horrific damage. Most may be without power for over a month. Situations like these remind of the power of perspective and community.

Situations like these remind of the power of perspective and community.

How is it, in moments when the sh*t hits the fan and tragedy reigns as far as the eye can see, humanity can come together to lend a hand or financial assistance to lift up a fellow human?

How we can shift from the perspective of paralyzing fear to an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the love being shared?

Community Generates Connection

Community reminds us of the good that’s still available to us and triggers mood boosting endorphins (yes, Elle Woods!).

Genuine connection is vital for our mental and emotional well-being because without it, we can become lonely, anxious and depressed.

When we strengthen and create new social connections, we’re building a foundation for happiness.

Sharing good ch’i (or energy) is a fulfilling Feng Shui practice that I come back to when I’m feeling less than stellar.

Greet nine strangers each day. Simply smile and say, “Hello”.

You’ll be amazed at how the simple act of connecting with another human through an exchange of a greeting can warm your heart, boost your mood and create a greater sense of belonging. The best part? Today, we have scientific evidence to back this up!

A community is a group of people who share something in common.

Being human is the greatest communality.

As you make your rounds to this year's pumpkin patches and Halloween festivities, remember this practice. And you can be the catalyst for a positive chain reaction!

How can you bring these warm-hearted feelings into your home?

Candles!

Candles represent the warmth of fire energy.

Be the catalyst for a positive chain reaction!
