How Traveling Changes Your Perspective

Y’all, I’ve got a confession to make…
I’m a travel-aholic!
Traveling has been my reprieve, the USB-C for recharging my drained battery.
A few years ago, I thought my traveling days were over (I’m sure the whole world’s with me on this one!). It’d felt like ice ages since I’d set foot on foreign soil, felt the thrill of a new adventure.
So, I did a thing - a Feng Shui thing!
Now, I’ve gotten the opportunity to sweep out those cobwebs from my favorite travel buddy - my super-cute-yet-oh-so-practical Tumi Just in Case tote.
Traveling isn't just about seeing new places. It’s about gaining new insights, broadening your horizons and transforming your perspective on life. Whether you're trekking through glistening cities, hiking through tree lined mountains, or lounging on sandy beaches, every journey has the potential to change the way you see the world and advance your personal growth. And with a dash of Feng Shui, you’ll learn how to make your travel dreams a reality.
Expanding Your Comfort Zone
Leaving your comfort zone is an integral part of travel. It’s a surefire way to give you that boost in personal growth you’ve been looking for!
Whether it's navigating unfamiliar streets, trying adrenaline-pumping activities, or communicating in a foreign language, every new experience challenges you to grow and adapt. Having lived through these new periods of growth on the road, over time, you become more resilient, confident and adaptable in your everyday life.
Taking that much needed step away from your daily routine gives you the opportunity to reflect on your life from a new vantage point. This isn’t a luxury - it’s a necessity!
As you witness different ways of life and encounter unexpected challenges, you gain perspective on your own values, priorities and goals. Traveling can spark moments of clarity and inspiration, prompting you to make positive changes and pursue your passions with a renewed sense of purpose and vigor.
Harnessing an Abundant Mindset
Living out your values and purpose are what lead you towards an abundant mindset. It’s in that space that you’re overflowing with a feeling of wealth.
Wealth and abundance are connected to the upper left-hand corner of the Bagua map. The Bagua map is a tool used by Feng Shui consultants to locate the nine energy centers of your home (check out this blog post for more!).
But this energy center isn’t just an area of your home. From a Feng Shui perspective, it’s indicative of the wealth and abundance that’s felt and experienced in your life!
Cultivate that abundant mindset by reminding yourself how wealthy traveling makes you feel. Do so with an intentional reminder.
Try an amethyst hued passport cover (like this one) to fuel feelings of prosperity. Or don my handmade Feng Shui crystal bracelet in amethyst. Spritz the bracelet’s lava bead, or your hotel room, with my cleansing and clearing aromatherapy spray to get those positive vibes going.
Turning Traveling Dreams into Reality
Now that we’ve established how traveling leads to a greater sense of abundance and growth, let’s tap into how Feng Shui can be used to make your traveling dreams a reality. That’s with some good ol’ self-reflection.
You’ll want to download my free, printable Bagua map here.
Once you’ve got your Bagua map in hand, use it to locate the Helpful People & Travel gua (or area) of your home. You’re going to utilize the association you’ve now made with this area of your home to release those travel dreams you’ve been bottling up inside. Spend some time in the space. Where’s your heart guiding you? What is it that you wish to experience?
Now that the seeds of intention have been planted, nurture them with action steps. They’ll keep you floating towards those strawberries ‘n cream swirled sunsets you’ve been yearning for, piña colada in hand.
Happy travels!
