2022 Lunar New Year
The Lunar New Year of 2022 (otherwise known as Chinese New Year) will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 1st.
The Lunar New Year is a traditional celebration that follows the phases of the moon, unlike the more commonly used Gregorian calendar. It is marked by one of the twelve animals in the Chinese zodiac and one of the five elements from traditional Chinese medicine: earth, water, wood, fire, and metal.
In 2022, we will be celebrating the Year of the Tiger, which corresponds to the element of water.
According to Chinese astrology, the Water Tiger brings with it the energy of new beginnings. Water is known for its purifying and cleansing properties, but it is also connected to fear. On the other hand, the tiger is a symbol of courage and brings with it joy.
While each of us may experience the effects of the Water Tiger differently, we can make changes to our environment to enhance its positive aspects. One way to do this is to incorporate principles of Feng Shui, an ancient Chinese practice that aims to harmonize individuals with their environment. By following Feng Shui principles, we can create a space that is conducive to prosperity, health, and overall well-being.
Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese practice that aims to create harmonious environments to enhance the flow of energy or "ch’i."
One aspect of Feng Shui is decluttering and organizing one's space to create a sense of harmony and promote positive energy. Another is journaling. Journaling can be a helpful tool in this process as it allows for reflection of thoughts and emotions by identifying areas of clutter in our lives, and sets intentions for decluttering both our physical and mental space.
This practice can help you achieve goals you’ve set for yourself - another key aspect of Feng Shui. By setting clear intentions and keeping a record of progress, you can stay focused and motivated.
Just like the Water Tiger, you are cleansing what no longer serves you and consciously shifting your focus to joy!
Scientific evidence shows significant mental and physical benefits to journaling as a form of self-care, spiritual purging and conscious renewal.
Numerous studies have revealed that a regular journaling practice can not only cultivate good chi and a sense of gratitude (yep, feel into all feels!) but can also lead to a reduction in anxiety, depression and stress.
By incorporating journaling into our daily practice, we can cultivate good ch’i and a sense of gratitude, reduce anxiety, depression and stress, and ultimately, create a more harmonious and balanced life.
As we celebrate the Year of the Water Tiger and move into a new lunar year, may we all take this opportunity to consciously shift our focus towards joy and embrace new beginnings. Wishing you a joyful and prosperous Lunar New Year filled with good health, happiness, and peace.
Happy Year of the Water Tiger!
